We’ve had a bit of a setback, so I thought I would let you know about it (the abridged version anyway!) as I won’t have the time to get in touch with everyone.
Clint was having shortness of breath, so on Thursday we went to ER at Mt Sinai. They discovered that Clint’s hemaglobin was extremely low-a dramatic drop from when it was tested on Tuesday. An x-ray showed that there was fluid in his lungs. He was given a blood transfusion and after a lot of waiting, he was admitted to the hospital and when they drained the lungs (another very long wait) they found that the fluid was blood. They are still not sure where it has come from, but they think it may be a result of trauma as Clint had a fall on Sunday. They drained off 4 litres of blood not counting the litre that leaked on to Clint's clothes, towels, bed linen and the floor (but that’s another story!)
It seems that most of the fluid has now been drained off and not much more seems to be collecting at this point, so we are hopeful that the bleeding has stopped. He had another blood transfusion today which we hope will raise the hemaglobin levels to normal.
Clint will be in the hospital for a few more days yet, although of course we would much rather he was at home.
Please excuse typos, grammatical errors etc. as I’ve been at the hospital very long hours for the last few days. (I’ve become a bit of a fixture-I’m now helping the nurses!)
Clint is still taking his chemo drugs through all this, so we still hope for a good outcome. Keep those positive thought coming!
